THE RELATIONSHIP AND WALK OF GOD'S EARTHLY PEOPLE

ISRAEL HAD TO BE TAUGHT - DON'T BE LIKE THE EGYPTIANS FROM WHICH YOU CAME

(Video of this subject following these notes - preached at Living Word Tabernacle)

Lev 18:1-5

18:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God. 3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. 4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God. 5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.

RELATIONSHIP AND WALK

So as not to retain the things of Egypt, Israel now had the prophet Moses to instruct them, how they should live together as God’s earthly people. It was something to be learned, instructed to know and to obey.

It would be life or death, in their obedience or the lack of it.

If is the same for the New Testament Believer. For them it was a forced thing, a law that they could not keep. For us, it is in our hearts, a willingness, even though we come short of sinless perfection, we still find the way of duty is the way of comfort and happiness. Godliness has the promise of life.

It is still the same – “Keep My commandments and live.”

1 Tim 4:6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. 7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

In Leviticus the man that kept the law could live, but that is all, the law could not give life, there was not faith in it. It was weak through the flesh, but we are strong through the Spirit. It is our faith in Christ not our merit our own works.

Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

The just shall live by faith… by virtue of our union with Christ, who is our life.

RELATIONSHIPS

Rom 10:5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. 6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) 7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

OUR WALK

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

MOSES TEACHES THEM – INCEST, SEXUAL MORAL MIS-CONDUCT AND MARRIAGE RELATIONS – SINS THAT WERE PRODOMINATE IN EYGPT AND THE LAND OF PROMISE.

INCEST

Paul dwelt with the same thing with the early Gentile church – 1 Cor 5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father's wife. 2 And you are proud! NIV

In Leviticus, we find Israel had carried with them the sins of Egypt and would easily be influenced by the same sins in Canaan, of which, because of them the people of Canaan were to be destroyed.

If these sins were found among Israel, they were to be “cut off” put to death.

The family, and marriage is a divine institution, and along with the sabbath, the oldest of all institutes established by God.

Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh,

This institute has been a part of our culture of almost 6000 years. How quickly this has changed – end-time conditions. In the last few years – we now live in a world that I am completely repelled by. A culture that never existed so completely in the world as it is now. And when these conditions existed, God brought judgement and destruction.

SODOM AND GOMORRAH TODAY

What we see today, in the family and marriage, is bringing a complete destruction to what God ordained it to be.

Marriage puts two people, a biological man and a woman, a husband and wife in equality. They are one flesh. There can be inequality between the rich and poor, the master and a slave, the great and the small, between family members, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, brothers, and sisters, but not between a husband and wife.

Therefore, we should live in that unity and harmony as a married couple. Understanding each other’s abilities and inabilities given by God for the union to properly work and live together. Not depriving one another of any marriage relationship, or forceable taking advantage.

If you are not married – you more than likely will marry – it is a necessity for God’s plan for his children. Except in special circumstances, where God has given grace to serve Him by walking alone, with Christ.

If these things are violated (relationships), Moses wrote that it would be an abomination, and create confusion in the land – carrying a penalty of death.

AS NEW TESTAMENT BELIEVERS, OUR RELATIONSHIPS AND WALK ARE IMPORTANT.

E-53    Christians, can't you feel that evil? If you can't, there's something wrong. It grieved me. I turned around; I thought, "O God, wonder if my Pentecostal sisters would... Please God, don't let that happen, please. Have mercy, God; don't do it; don't let them be carried away with that stuff."

I walked out on the street, thought I'd get a bite of breakfast. There come a man with his wife, going to the church, and that woman blowing cigarette smoke from both sides, like a steam engine or something. Here come grandmother down the street, pair of high heels on, stuck her way out this way, way back that way, and way out this way. I ain't making fun. I'm just trying to tell you. And my soul was so grieved. I thought, "God, here I am out here as a minister of righteousness, and I can speak it out, and it makes them hate me. What can I do, Lord? What can I do; it's Your people?"

E-54    And then something said to me, "Would you desire the praise of men more than the praise of God?"

I said, "Lord, give me boldness. Let the people see that it's love; it isn't to be different. It's love. I'm trying to speak salvation (See?), in my little church that Jesus died for."

Then I set down on the corner. I set there, and I looked, coming across the street, and here come two or three young women, here come a boy with one of them, Ricky hair cuts, you know, and going. I thought, "O God," coming from church cigarette in the hands. Looked coming down the other street and here come a whole gang; one of them telling a real funny joke, immoral. I started walking on up the street; I thought, "God, this is not my home. Why don't You just let me just lose gravitation and walk on out of here sometime. Let me go, Lord." I thought, "Oh, I can't say that though. O God, who's going to cry out? What we going to do? What we going to do?" Just felt like something was dropping in my heart, down on the inside; I thought, "You mean that Your children, Your daughters, Your sons, has got captured by this, God? Have they got captured by this?"

E-55    And look like I could just see, it wasn't a vision, just in my mind. I could see Jesus looking over Jerusalem, tears running down His cheeks, and saying, "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, how oft that I have hovered you as a hen does her brood. How I would've gathered thee, but you would not."

And I could feel the Spirit in my heart crying, "Oh, Pentecost, Pentecost, how oft would I have took you under my wings, but you would not."

So I guess the hour of separation is drawing nigh. Oh, Christians, called of God, don't let that be your destination. Look up, look up, cut yourself loose from every line. Sell out to the things of the world. Don't be earthbound; sail out upon the deep. Let down into the deep. Do that, won't you.

232      My own mother, she's gone on now, and she was a very odd woman. And she was, you know, about a half Indian, and she was odd. But in there she was a person that didn't dream. But I don't think... She only had four or five dreams, all of her life. But every time she dreamed a dream, it was true. She had a dream, it was true.

233    I remember one time when I first started preaching, many years ago. We was living right up here on the road, right just above here. I was preaching right here at this church. And she dreamed a dream, that I was standing here by the side of three steps. And I was standing, preaching to everybody, that they must walk up these three steps before they hit the highway. And on the highway is a little pearly-like white line, run right into the doors of Heaven, to the pearly gate. And that pearl had been stretched out to the top of these steps. If that ain't my Message exactly today; justification, sanctification, the baptism of the Holy Ghost! And I was saying that a person has to come by these three steps, to be able to walk that highway. And said that...

234      There was a lady came by. Now, you know what kind of shoes people wore thirty-five years ago. There was a lady come by, had on a great big pair like they wear today, spike-heeled shoes. And she come by. And I said, "Wait a minute, sister. You can't walk that highway with that." And I said, "You, you can't do that."

235    And she said, "Ah!" She said, looked around at the rest of the women, said, "Don't believe him. He's a madman. See? Don't believe him. I'll show you I can be justified, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost, and still walk that." And she... I just let her go. Couldn't do no more about it, couldn't stop her. And she jumped up on the highway. And she looked back at the sister, said, "See, I told you!" She started to run up, and she...

236    You know, as the Bible said, in Isaiah, 5th chapter [Isa 3:16], that they would have "outstretched necks." They have to; they're pitched over, see. "Mincing as..." They have to, have to twist, "Mincing as they go, making a tinkling with their heels; see, the daughters of Zion in the last day."

237      And she started up that highway, just as hard as she could run. And, after a while, the road got narrower and narrower. She started reeling, mincing like that, and off she went.

238    And mother said, "The horriblest screams that I ever heard in my life, was that woman falling into those flames and smoke, going down, down like that." Said, I "turned around and said, 'See?'"

239    She just obeyed everything but one Word, see, everything but one Word. Sure, Pentecostal women can be saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost, and then fail. Absolutely. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds." See? See? And she failed It. And as I said, see, she would have went on in, all right, but, see, she failed to listen; telling her what was ahead. And He's wrote the Gospel by the disciples, apostles, and Doctrine of the apostles and prophets, and so forth, and they won't listen.

DO NOT GO THE WAY OF EYGPT BEFORE YOU ARE THE INFLUENCES OF CANAAN, EVEN IN WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS RIGHT. BE INFULENCED BY THE WORD AND THE SPIRIT THAT IS IN YOU AS A BELIEVER.
