A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART

I was reading in the Bible yesterday how that David was described in scripture by his HEART.  This is what God saw in David above his ability to kill the giant or win the battles of Israel.

This man was a mighty man, a warrior and a king. God compared him to His own heart, not once, but many times. In fact, all the other kings that followed David were compared to him and no one achieved the same credit.

In our human eyes, David was not a perfect man, he made many mistakes that have been recorded in the Bible.  He committed a great sin against Uriah, which the scripture records all the way into the New Testament. David also numbered the children, of which God was not pleased and it brought death up on thousands of innocent people in Israel. The list could continue, however for whatever reason God seen David’s heart as superior to any of his faults.  His love for God and his ultimate obedience to God even when he made mistakes, never justifying his wrongs and always accepting them as his fault when corrected by the prophet.

When my epitaph is written, may it not be of any great things that I may have thought I have accomplished for the LORD. But may it be that God has seen my heart above my imperfections, and He would say, “Bill Ivy is a man after my own HEART.”

It is all about the heart, my friend, and not what you think you have done.
